Treatment of Stress Incontinence |
Drinking less fluid, logical though it may sound, will not help your continence problems as dehydration can cause bladder and urinary tract infections, and the concentration of the little urine that is produced can increase the chances of bladder irritation and leakage.
Alcohol, caffeine based drinks and smoking should be avoided as caffeine and nicotine are irritants as well.
Avoid constipation – drink plenty and eat a healthy, well balanced diet.
Pads and ClothingManaging your continence problems effectively can minimise the impact they have on your life. A wide range of absorbent pads and towels are available to lessen the embarrassment of leaks.
Products are available from pharmacies or your continence advisor.
Wearing appropriate easy to manage clothing will make life easier.
